Albert Bridge

The Albert Bridge is a road bridge on the the Thames, of Chelsea to Battersea, with London. It was named in memory of the Prince Consort Albert.

Although authorized by an act of the Parliament in 1864, construction started any only in 1870. The bridge was open first once on December 31st, 1872, before being closed again until August 23rd, 1873. Its designer was Rowland Mason Ordish, which designed the suspension of 710 feet length and 41 the broad ones. The costs of construction are estimated at 90000£.

It was reconsolidated in 1884 by Sir Joseph Bazalgette.
