The lek (plural lekë in Albanian, code ALL ) is the Monnaie used in Albania since 1926. The lek is subdivided in 100 qindarka .
History of the Albanian lek
During the Italian occupation (1939-1944) the monetary unit, the Franc Albanian ( franga ) was related to the Lire Italian. On arrival of the German troops (1944), those introduced a currency of war (Reichskreditkassenschein biljetten (XDEK)), currency related to the German Reichsmark.Once the release and the installation of the Communist regime, lek (ALK) was reintroduced initially with the parity of the Yugoslav Dinar, then in 1948 (rupture with Tito) compared to the Soviet Rouble. In 1961, the heavy lek (ALL) replaced old the lek (parity of 10 per 1)
