Albalonga

The albalonga is a Cépage tank German of white grapes.

Origin and geographical distribution

The type of vine is obtaining Hans Breider in the institute Bayerische Landesanstalt für Weinbau und Gartenbau with Veitshöchheim close to Würzburg. The genetic cause is checked and it is a crossing of the type of vines Rieslaner X Sylvaner carried out in 1951. The type of vine is authorized in many Länder in Germany. The surface planted is in regression passing of 19 hectares in 1994 to 13 hectares in 2001.

Farming aptitudes

Maturity is of second late time: 15 - 20 days after the chasselas.

Technological potential

The bunches are average and the bays are of small size with average. The bunch is cylindrical and compact. The type of vine is of good strength and fertile. It is sensitive to the gray Pourriture and the Chlorose if the grounds are too limestones. The type of vine gives fruity dry wines white keeping a good acidity. In late vintage, the quality of the wines is high.
