Alba Iulia

Alba Iulia (in German Karlsburg , in Hungarian Gyulafehérvár ) is a medium-sized city of Transylvania (66 369 inhabitants in 2002), in full center of the Romania.

It is the chief town of the Judeţ de Alba.

Located not far from the Carpates, this tourist city is undoubtedly one of oldest of Romania: vestiges dating from the Neolithic , important city under and before the Roman occupation under the name of Apulum, one of the first archbishop's palaces founded by Etienne I {{er}}, king of Hungary at the beginning of the 11th century, under the name of Gyulafehérvár, then town of Saxon princes with the the Middle Ages (under the name of Karlsburg).

The town of Alba Iulia has a great importance symbolic system for the Roumanians, because it is there that was sealed the “Great Unification” of Romania on February 1st 1918. It is thus here that one celebrates each year the national festival. The network of Alba Iulia east composes of Renault R312 and Heuliez Gx107 sold by Stac and Semurval. Of Saviem Sc10u also circulate on the network of Alba Iulia.
