Alard Ier of Castle-Gontier
Alard Ier of Castle-Gontier , lord of Castle-Gontier.
Biography
Alard Ier is, with his/her father Renaud Ier of Castle-Gontier and its brother Renaud, witness or referee between the abbot of Saint-Florent and Aubry de Montjean. But for the Abbot Angot, this act, which is not dated, would not know the being of 1042, nor to prove that Renaud Ier lived still at that time. Alard was thus at the beginning of its career attached to Foulque Nerra and Geoffroy Martel of the time of the countesses Agnès and Grécia. It is even only by its presence with the acts of these counts d' Anjou that we know it.But it is at the head of all the officers of the court of Geoffroy, even front Robert Burgundian the, in the donations with the abbeys of Vendôme, Saint Nicolas's Day, Ronceray and in the acts of its civil administration, in particular for the transfer of the church of All Saints' day to the Abbaye of Vendôme, like place of refuge (1049); for the rehabilitation of Foulques Oison in the County of Vendôme (1050); for an agreement between Ronceray and Gislebert, nephew of Aubry de Chinon; for the gift of half of the Saint-Remy cheese court by the Raoul Viscount in Saint-Serge (1050). The last of the acts where it appears is that where Eon de Blaison, which had violated the conventions made about the church of Cherré with the abbots of Saint-Aubin and of Saint-Lezin, reconciles itself with the monks, in the room of Geoffroy Martel (1059 or 1060). Renaud, his brother and his successor, appearing like lord of Castle-Gontier only in 1063, it is of 1060 with 1063 that its death should be placed. One does not know a woman to him; those which give him Mathilde, girl of Robert the Burgundian one, are authorized there by no contemporary text. In any case, it did not have a child since the seigniory échut with his brother. In the titles where Alard and Renaud appear together, Alard is always the first.
