Alan Kay

Name designating the inhabitants of Saint-Chamond, in the the Loire.

This name comes from the name which the inhabitants of the neighborhood cities gave to the inhabitants of Saint-Chamond because of the unfolding of the Fête of the Saint Jean. Indeed, at the time of this festival, the couramiauds put above the fire of the cats in a cage in wicker in top of a mast. When fire, burning the mast, made fall the cage which broke, the cats fled. The couramiauds ran then after the cats. “After the cats” → “  Runs; runs after Miaous  ” → “  couramiaud  ”.

This festival, existing still nowadays, does not practice obviously any more this characteristic, but the name remained.
