Alamo ( in The Alamo ) is a American Western carried out by John Wayne, left in 1960.

Synopsis

The film takes as a starting point an episode of the war of independence of the Texas, the Siège of Fort-Alamo.

A handle of 185 unsubdued American civilians in Mexico, among which legendary the Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, is sacrificed to retain the 7000 men of the Mexican regular troops while waiting for the arrival of the colonial troops.

The anecdote wants that true Davy Crockett interpreted by John Wayne arriving at the height with his men, of hard fétards always ready for the drinking bout but brave with the combat, would have pronounced these words:

I came in your area without any personal reason. I believe it at least, but only to help you, as much as it will be in my capacity, to defend your noble cause. Your interests will be mine, and the only honor which I assert is that to defend as a soldier, with my compatriots, freedoms of our common nation.
