Alain de Boissieu
Alain of Boissieu Dean de Luigné (born the July 5th 1914 with Chartres and dead the April 5th 2006 with Clamart) is a French soldier, Compagnon of the Release and son-in-law of the Général de Gaulle.

Biography (1914 - 2006)
Wire of the " comte" Henri de Boissieu Dean de Luigné and of the " comtesse" born Marguerite Froger de Mauny, it enters to the military special École of Saint-Cyr military school in 1936 (promotion of the " Soldier inconnu") and its military formation with the École of Application of the Cavalry of Saumur in 1938 continues.At the beginning of the Second world war, it is pointed out by stopping an enemy attack the June 11th 1940, in the north of Époye (Marne), where it shows much calm and coolness. Indeed, whereas its group of anti-tank guns is encircled, the second lieutenant of Boissieu charges the Germans with the saber with his 35 riders. Heroic episode - and history - since one can think that it was the last load of the French cavalry.
Having heard the message of the General de Gaulle, it tries to gain London but is made prisoner by the Germans. He however manages to escape from Poméranie the March 28th 1941, in company of Jacques Branet and Aloyse Klein (future generals), to gain the USSR where he is interned and again joined finally the de Gaulle general with London.
He will serve this last in his particular staff and will take part in the operations of Bayonne (Easter 1942), with the raid on Dieppe (August 1942) then with the operations of re-establishment of the French authority with Madagascar and Djibouti with FFL. He then unloads in Normandy the July 30th 1944 but is wounded the August 12th. He points out himself nevertheless by his acts of heroism at the time of the combat of the forest of Écouves then to Paris the August 25th 1944.
He is promoted in 1945 major and enters to the military cabinet of the de Gaulle general. The January 2nd 1946, it marries the oldest daughter of this last, Elisabeth de Gaulle, of which it will have a girl, Anne de Boissieu (born in 1959).
In 1956, it is again the proof of its military qualities at the time of the Guerre of Algeria: it then receives the Croix of the Military Value with two quotations and the tie of commander of the Légion of honor. Then, it is promoted Brigadier general and receives in September 1964 the command of the military special École of Saint-Cyr military school and of the Military academy interarmes of Coëtquidan which it exerts during three years.
The August 22nd 1962, it is present in the car of the de Gaulle general when this one essuie of the shootings of machine-guns, at the time of the attack of the Petit-Clamart. De Gaulle will report that her son-in-law intimated the order to him to put himself at the shelter, saying to him: “With ground, Father!!! ”
Then, it is named inspector of the ABC (Armed armor-plated - Cavalry) and becomes member of the Superior council of the War (1969 - 1971).
General in May 1971, it exerts the functions of chief of Staff of the Army until February 1975. He then becomes large chancellor of the Légion of honor and chancellor of the National order of the Merit, functions of which he resigns with crash in May 1981 not to have to give the collar of large Master of the order to François Mitterrand, lately elected president of the Republic.
He died the April 5th 2006 with Clamart. Its funerals were celebrated the April 8th 2006 in the main courtyard of the national Hôtel of the Invalids to Paris in the presence of Jacques Chirac, president of the Republic and many other personalities of which former Prime Ministers, Pierre Messmer and Edouard Balladur. Alain de Boissieu was buried in Colombey the two Churches all beside the tomb of the de Gaulle General.
Distinctions
- Since 1970, Alain de Boissieu was member of the Council of the Ordre of the Release and was named, in November 2002, chancellor of the Ordre of the Release.
