Alain Schifres

Born on February 14th, 1939 with Montmorency, Alain Schifres studies with the Institut of political studies of the University of Paris while passing a license of right. After a doctorate in political sciences, it enters in 1964 to Réalités , monthly magazine primarily centered on the cultural one and the leisures.

Supporting François Schlosser in his will to push the magazine a little more towards the left, it binds friendship with the art critic Christiane Duparc. The arrival of the latter to the head of the service company of the Nouvel Observateur then gives the opportunity to him to carry out there some measuring rods - in particular on the cinema and the western spaghetti - during winter 1971/1972. He collaborates even regularly in July 1972 but his/her friend does not have the authority to impose it on leaders (Hector de Galard, Serge Lafaurie and Pierre Bénichou) who refuse to see it recruiting his/her friends.

The rejection of one of its papers on “the eater of right-hand side and the eater of left” thus marks the failure of its integration. In 1976, it leaves Réalités for a journalistic, alive “retirement” of translations and notes for encyclopedia. But loneliness weighs to him gradually and, in May 1980, it enters street of Aboukir with the support of his friend. Attache in the pages company, it covers about all subjects but in particular of gastronomy. Using of a kind of “sociology amusing”, it written there mainly articles on the air of time, evolutions of manners and mentalities.

It obtains the price Mumm 1986. By fidelity with Christiane Duparc and in dissension with the reform of the service “Our Time”, it leaves for the Express train in October 1990 at the same time as Wolinski for Paris-Match.

Alain Schifres is the author of many works: " Dictionary in love with the menus plaisirs" , " New dictionary of the generally accepted ideas, the agreed remarks and the verbal tics, or, the dinner without peine" , " The eyes ronds" , " Parisiens" , " Hexagons" , " Those which know what I speak will include/understand what I want dire" , " Ironic inventory of France". In 2003, it publishes at Gallimard, " The fall of the corps" in which he speaks about his childhood.
