Alain Ray (born the October 3rd 1910 with Paris and dead the June 4th 2007) was a Officier Militaire French. First escaped prisoner of Colditz, large resistant, he will be the first military chief of the maquis of Vercors (1943) and the chief of FFI of Isere (1944-1945). It will order thereafter alpine division in Algérie (1962) before being named Lieutenant-general of army (1968).

The first chief of the maquis of Vercors

Officer of active maixentais, Alain Ray passed by famous the 159 {{E}} Régiment of Alpine Infantry. Before the Second world war, he is chief of a section of scout-skiers (SES). Ordering FFI of the Isere in 1944, it organizes the release of the department in connection with the allied forces. It will deliver in April 1945 to the Mount-Cenis, with the head of the 7 {{E}} Half-brigade of Alpine hunters, of hard combat to still take again to the Germans the ultimate pieces of territory between their hands. Alain Ray holds of the operational headquarters in Indo-China and Algérie, in particular:

Alain Ray is administrator of the National park of the Jewel cases of 1973 to 1981.

Alain Ray married the girl of the writer François Mauriac.

He dies the June 4th 2007. Its funerals proceeded with the Invalides with Paris the June 11th, before its burial with the cemetery of Vémars the following day.
