Alain Poiré

Alain Poiré is a scenario writer and producer of French cinema born the February 13rd 1917 with Paris and deceased the January 14th 2000 with Paris.

Biographical elements

Detached of the agency Havas, Alain Poiré between with the S ociété NR ouvelle of the E tablissements G aumont (SNEG, become simply Gaumont in 1975) on September 1st 1938 as an assistant of the managing director Jean Jay to take part in the rescue of the company then in compulsory liquidation. Taken by the passion of the cinema, the young bachelor of law will not have to leave any more the Gaumont until his death and will contribute to the history of the French cinema since the Fifties.

Producer with the Gaumont and director of International Gaumont, Alain Poiré produced more than 200 films among which one counts some of greatest successes of the French cinema.

Alain Poiré is the father of Jean-Marie Poiré.
