Alain Marleix

Alain Marleix , French politician, born the January 2nd 1946 with Paris.

After the Collège Holy-Bores in Paris, it passes by the École of the high studies in social sciences (EHESS), and took down the diplomas of l´ University of journalism of Lille (ESJ) and higher learning (OF) of political sciences. Initially parliamentary correspondent, chief of the political service of the daily newspaper the Nation (1968-76), he becomes adviser near the Minister of Interior Department Charles Pasqua (1986)

Political career

He is elected parliamentary European on the list of Union UDF-RPR (1989-93), he was elected general adviser of the Canton of Massiac (1988) and vice-president of the General advice of the Cantal, elected on March 21st, 1993 Député RPR of the Cantal, re-elected on May 25th, 1997, mayor of Massiac (since 1995), he was regular judge with the High Court of justice.

He is re-elected appointed the June 16th 2002, for XIIe legislature (2002 - 2007), in the Second district of the Cantal. Its substitute is Jean-Yves Bony, mayor of Ally, in the North-West of the department close to Salers. He belongs to the group UMP.

June 19th, 2007, it is named Secretary of State to the War veterans, near the Minister for Defense in the second government of Francois Fillon.

Responsibilities in RPR

Within the RPR, he is successively Regional delegate of Auvergne (1976-85), National delegate, in charge of the federations (1976-84), National secretary, in charge of the federations and l organization (1985), member of the Central committee, the Political office and the Executive commission, National secretary then Assistant general secretary (1988), National secretary, in charge of the European Businesses (1991-92). Alain Marleix is one of the best experts of the French Electoral map within the party. Jacques Chirac would have thus entrusted several missions to him, for the majority semi-official, aiming supporting the establishment of candidates in the areas or at supporting the collection of signatures near the rural mayors with the profit of candidates to the presidential election (as for Bruno Mégret in 2002, whose candidature was to limit the score of Jean-Marie Le Pen to the profit of Jacques Chirac in the Sacring, the novel of a president of Nicolas Domenach and Maurice Szafran, ED. Plon - March 2003).

His wife, Evelyne Marleix, is mayor of Molompize which is with seven kilometers of Massiac. One of his/her children, Olivier Marleix, former member of cabinet of the president of the General advice of Eure-et-Loir, is member of the ministerial cabinet of Brice Hortefeux of 2005 to 2007, then adviser technical on the social questions in the Elysium since June 2007.

After the victory of Jacques Chirac in 1995, Alain Marleix takes the vice-presidency behind Bernard Pons of the Association of the Friends of Jacques Chirac.

Since the election of Nicolas Sarkozy with the head of the UMP in 2004, Alain Marleix is in load of the National secretariat to the elections, posts strategic which confers the right for the candidates on legislative, municipal and cantonal has just raised the support of the UMP.
