Alain Ier of Brittany , († 907), known as Large the , was king de Bretagne towards 890 with 907.
Successor of its brother Pascweten († 877), itself son-in-law and successor of the king Solomon († 874), Alain is count de Vannes, count de Nantes. He inherits the quarrels with the Comté of Rennes for the crown of Brittany. He faces Judicaël, count de Rennes, then reconciles himself with him for better ensuring defense against the Normands. In 890, it is illustrated with the battle of Questembert where the Norman ones are demolished. Moreover Judicaël finds death there.
From now on without competitor, it gathers under its authority all the forces of Brittany. He becomes the king about it. He extends his domination towards the east until the Mayenne and he accepted even temporal abbey Saint Aubin of Angers. Its reign 890 - 907 mark one period of calm and prosperity for Brittany. The exact date of its death is not known.
According to the subscriptions of acts, Alain left of his Orgaim wife at least five wire including two survivors and two married girls:
