Alain II of Avaugour

Alain II of Avaugour (born in 1224 died towards 1267) heir to Avaugour and the Goëlo, Lord of Dinan.

Oldest son of Henri II of Avaugour and Marguerite de Mayenne.

He marries in 1246 Clémence of Beaufort girl of Alain of Beaufort and Havoise of Dinan and for this reason heiress of half of the seigniory of Dinan known as Dinan - Northern.

After the death of his/her mother and her aunt in 1256 it inherits the seigniories Mayenne and Dinan - Bécherel thus joining together the two seigniories separate Dinan since 1123.

Alain d' Avaugour lord of the town suit would be in fact at the origin of the foundation of the Convent of the Cordeliers often allotted to his father.

In 1264 it yields the whole of the inheritance inherited his/her mother and that of his wife to the duke Jean Ier of Brittany for 16.000 Tournois books. His/her father then regards it as " Prodigue" and tries to make cancel the transaction by the Royal Court of justice of Paris in 1267 in the name of his/her small son Henri III of Avaugour.

It will follow from there a long procedure which will make it possible Henri III of Avaugour to recover part of the inheritance of his/her mother in particular the seigniory of Northern Dinan towards 1287.

Alain d' Avaugour had at that time died or left Brittany to live in the fields of his second wife since one loses his trace after 1268.

Alain d' Avaugour contracted two unions:

1) Clemence of Beaufort Rams Northern Dinan of which:

2) Marie de Beaumont girl of Guillaume de Beaumont Count of Caserte to the Kingdom of Naples and widow of Jean de Clermont.
