Alain Crepin

Alain Crepin is a Belgian Musicien born with Mettet the February 28th 1954.

Studies

It begins its studies with the Academy from music of Dining with as professor on musical theory Marie-Claude Remy. He studies the Saxophone, the Violoncelle and the Piano before going to the Conservatoire of Brussels, in the class of François Daneels. He obtains there the higher diplomas of saxophone and chamber music as well as the first prices of harmony and counterpoint. He also studied the orchestration and the direction of orchestra with the honorary band masters Roland Cardon and Yvon Ducène, the running away with Jaques Leduc.

He is today professor of saxophone to the Conservatoire of Brussels.

Military career

Having made a success of the tests imposed on the assistance of Officer-Chief of Music in 1983, it ensured the direction of the Music of the Forces of the Interior based Arlon for 11 months. And it is in December 1984, which he saw himself entrusting the direction of the Royal Music of the Belgian Air force. It was promoted on December 26th, 1993 with the rank of Captain-Commander Band master. Its Majesty the King Albert II commissioned it with the rank of Major-Chief of Music at dated December 26th, 2004.

After having directed the Royal Music of the Air force during 21 years, Major Alain Crepin comes to be indicated with the musical and artistic direction of the Musics of Defense at September 1st, 2005.

Its presence in the world amateur

He always stuck to the life of the companies amateurs. This is why after having directed several years the harmony of Mettet, since 1994 it directs the Musical Royal Cercle of Aubange.

The promotion of the saxophone

In 1986, it was elected Vice-Président of the International association for the Rise of the Saxophone. He was professor at the European University of the Saxophone to Gap (France) and to Alicante (Spain) and gave " Masterclasses" with Utrecht (Netherlands), Lisbon (Portugal), Madrid (Spain), Caracas (Venezuela). In November 1990, it organized with Dining, the European Days of the saxophone. In November 1993, the Union of the Belgian Type-setters allotted the " to him; FUGA" trophy; in recognition of its constant activity in favor of the contemporary Belgian music.

He was secretary of the jury of the International Contest of saxophone organized with Dining into 1994,1998, and in November 2002 he directed 1312 saxophones to Dining thus establishing the world records on the full orchestra of saxophones. Since 2005, it takes the presidency of National competitions and international Adolphe Sax of Dining.

As a soloist and that chief invited or with the Orchestra of Harmony of the Air force, it recorded 46 CD and occurred in the whole world.

The type-setter

In the field of the composition, he wrote many parts for harmony, brass band or Arm-band as well as works for instruments soloists and piano. The majority of its works are recorded on CD and were interpreted by the full orchestras.

All its works are published in Belgium: at Andel, Hebra-Music, Scherzando, Martinus or abroad: H. Lemoine (Paris), R. Martin (Mâcon, France), De Haske and Tierolff (Netherlands). All these activities do not prevent it from sitting within many jurys: Conservatory Higher National of music of Paris, Nice, Utrecht, Luxembourg, Munich, Valencia, Taiwan, Madrid, Trento…

In October 2001, it is with him that returned the honor, on ordering of the Minister for National defense, to compose a work at the time of the birth of Elisabeth, Princesse of Belgium: “Music for a Princely birth”.

Since 2003, he is also member of the International committee of the World congress of Saxophone.
