Alain Marie Albert Colmerauer (born the January 24th 1941 with Carcassonne) is a Informaticien French, initiator of the Computer programming language Prolog.

After a thesis supported with Grenoble on the compilation of ALGOL 60, Alain Colmerauer remained with Montreal, where it was interested in the automatic Traitement of the languages, and invented the Q-systems on this subject.

Become Professor with the University of Aix-Marseilles II, it defines the language Prolog and continued its work in data processing of the language, with in particular grammars of metamorphosis.

Associated with the Japanese project on the languages of fifth generation, it was interested in parallelization of Prolog.

With the development Prolog IV, it is one of the principal experts of the Programmation by constraints.

It is corresponding Academy of Science in mathematics since 1986.
