Alain Bashung

Alain Bashung , of his true name Alain Baschung, is a type-setter author interprets and actor French, born on February 1st 1947 with Paris of a Breton working mother and an Algerian father kabyle, that he forever known.

Biography

Youth

Alain Bashung is sent to the one year age in the surroundings of Strasbourg, with Wingersheim, in his grandparents. He thus passes his childhood to the countryside in a rather preserving medium. At five years, he discovers the music, in particular that of Kurt Weill, thanks to the practice of the Harmonica. He is moreover child of chorus in Wingersheim, where he practices also the Basket-ball and the Cyclisme. At the school, Alain is a serious child.

He finds Paris in 1959, where he discovers the great figures of the French song then, with the radio, the American Rock of Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly or Elvis Presley. Parallel to its studies of accountant whom it gives up quickly, it assembles a transitory group with buddies, the Dunces , with the oscillating register between Folk and Rockabilly.

A difficult beginning

Bashung forms with musicians met with Royan a new group which foams the restaurants, the hotels of province and especially the American bases. It begins with difficulty its career with its first 45 turns at 19 years, as Pourquoi do dream you of the   United States;? in 1966. Another of its first vinyls, left in 1968 and almost untraceable, is entitled " Romantiques".

It thus leaves a dozen individual, whose under the pseudonym of David Bergen, and two others, in 1971/1972 pennies the pseudonym of Hendrick Darmen type-setter and interprets group Monkey Bizness. It composes also some titles for high-speed motorboats of the time like No5el Deschamps, but does not manage to meet success.

In 1973, it interprets Robespierre in the musical comedy the French revolution of Claude-Michel Schönberg. It meets Dick Rivers Wildcats, for which it composes and produced. It will compose in particular the rock'n'roll to him " Marylou".

Success

It meets the musician Andy Scott and the author Boris Bergman, with whom it signs in 1977 its first innovating album, Romans photographs , which is a commercial failure in the context of the beachcomber Punk.

It continues in 1979 with Russian roulette , a very dark album and more rock'n'roll. In 1980 leaves the title Gaby, oh Gaby , with which Bashung is finally success. It confirms its talent near the musical critic and of the public in 1981, with its album very rock'n'roll Pizza which allows him, with the title Vertige of the love , to start a round in big rooms, in particular with the Olympia with Paris.

In 1982, Bashung collaborates with Serge Gainsbourg on the album complexes Play wounds , which to date remains certainly its best, but which does not meet a great business success.

In 1983, it disconcerts its public with a very original album, imposed Figure . In 1985, it returns with titles very effective writings for S.O.S Racism.

In 1986, it leaves Passé the Rio Grande . In 1989, the album Beginner with his sonorities New Wave and its individual Bend! .

In 1992, it begins a long collaboration with the lyric writer Jean Fauque, for Osez Joséphine , which contains also some resumptions of traditional American rock'n'roll. It widens its public and the album is sold with 350  000 specimens. In 1994, it continues with Chatterton , for which it collaborates with various artists (Sony Landreth, Ally McErlaine, Link Wray, Marc Ribot and Stephan Belmondo), who is launched by the title My small company . It starts a two years round which leads on an album live in 1995, public Confessions .

Starting from 1994, Bashung is devoted more to its career of actor begun in 1981, in particular in My sister Chinese of Alain Mazars.

After having recorded in duet " City" with Brigitte Fontaine on her album " Palaces" , it returns to the music in 1998 with military Fantaisie , for which it collaborates with Rodolphe Burger, Valentins and Jean-Marc Lederman. It receives for this album three Victoires of the music in 1999.

It leaves in 2002 imprudence , album acclaimed by criticism. It records the same year the Cantique of the canticles with his wife, the actress and singer Chloé Mons: they had created this title at the time of their marriage in 2001, on a music of Rodolphe Burger and on the basis of translation new of the Cantique of the canticles of the Bible by the writer Olivier Cadiot.

In 2004, appears an double album live, the round of big spaces .

In 2005, for the twentieth edition of the Victories of the music, it is devoted by the Victoire of the best album of these twenty last years, for military Fantaisie .

Beginning 2007, it leaves its pause and takes part in the round the Adventurers of another World with Jean-Louis Aubert, Cali, Daniel Darc, Richard Kolinka and Raphael. It is also offered two evenings to the Salle Pleyel of Paris and appears on the album the Mechanics of the heart of Dionysos. In 2008 he will propose a creation, the Man with cabbage head, around Serge Gainsbourg.

He currently prepares a new album, collaborating in particular with Gaëtan Roussel of Louise Attaque.
