Alain-Baker , pseudonym of Henri Alban Baker (October 3rd 1886 - September 22nd 1914), was a writer French died at the age of twenty-seven years after having written a single novel, Large Meaulnes .
Biography
It was born the October 3rd 1886 with Vault-in Angillon in the Cher and passed its childhood in the Sologne and Bas-Berry where his/her parents were teachers. It continued secondary studies with the Lycée Lakanal, with Sceaux close to Paris, where it prepared without success the entrance examination to the National university but bound friendship with Jacques Rivière which married his young sister, Isabelle, in 1909.It is in June 1905, during a short walk on the quays of the the Seine, which it met Yvonne de Quiévrecourt, which was the first great love of its life, and which it took as a starting point to compose the character of Yvonne de Galais in its novel. It found it only eight years later married and mother of two children.
In 1957, Pauline Benda - with the theater Mrs Simone - the connection revealed which it had had with the writer when this one was secretary of her husband Claude Casimir-Périer. Their correspondence was published in 1992.
Lieutenant of reserve, it left to shift as of the mobilization with the 288 {{E}} regiment infantry. One carried Fournier missing during the combat from the Éparges, close to Verdun, the September 22nd 1914, in the first confrontations of the First World War. This disappearance made work the imaginary one of much until its body was found and identified in a German common grave in 1991 to a few hundred meters of the Tranchée of Calonne. It was buried in the military cemetery of Saint-Rémy-the-Calonne leaving behind him one of the great classics of the literature.
Its name is reproduced on the walls of the the Pantheon of Paris in the list of the writers died in the field of honor during the war 1914-1918.
