Al gran plate carico of amore

Al gran plate carico of amore (in French: “With the large sun of love charged”) is a work of the Compositeur Italy N Luigi Nono, made up in 1974 and revised in 1977. It is dedicated with the Leader Claudio Abbado and with the pianist Maurizio Pollini. Written on ordering of the Commissione LED Teatro went Scala , it however was created with the Teatro Lirico of Milan the April 4th 1975, before being begun again with the Scala. Al gran plate carico of amore was recorded on June 19th, 2001 under the direction of Lothar Zagrosek with Helmut Holzapfel, Melinda Liebermann, Markus Marquardt and Mark Munkittrick for the Elektra label, in version CD (number of catalog 81059).

Work lasts approximately two hours.

The part is subtitled azione scenica in due tempi (scenic action in two times). It entered however to the repertory like a opera and is written for 9 votes soloists (4 soprani, 1 Contralto, 1 Ténor, 1 Baryton, 2 low S), 2 mixed chorus S, 9 instruments soloists (Violon S, viola S, Violoncelle S, Contrebasse), large a full orchestra wood by four (4 Flûte S, 4 Hautbois, 4 Clarinette S, 4 Basson S, 4 horn S, 4 trumpet S, 4 Trombone S, 7 percussion S, 2 drinking cups, Toothing-stone, the first 10 violins, 10 second violins, 10 violas, 10 violoncellos, 10 double basses) and magnetic band.

The partition was published at Ricordi, with Milan, in 1978.

Origin of the title

The title of work comes from worms of the poem the Hands of Jeanne-Marie of Arthur Rimbaud, a song with the glory of the women of the Commune:

A spot of rabble
Browns like a center of yesterday;
The back of these Hands is the place
That very kissed some Révolté to trust!
 

They faded, marvellous, With the large sun of charged love, On the bronze of the machine-guns Through insurgent Paris!

Analyzes

Built on the topic of the repression of the common in 1871 (time I) and of the Russian insurrection of 1905 (time II), the part is dramatic without comprising any narrative action; in a strict sense, it occurs nothing there. The booklet consists of a joining of texts selected and ordered by Nono: Brecht ( Die Tage DER Commune, Days of the Commune ), Tania Bunke (partner of the Che Guevarra), Fidel Castro, Che Guevarra, Dimitrov, Gorki, Gramsci, Lénine, Karl Marx, Louise Michel, Cesare Pavese, Arthur Rimbaud, Celia Sánchez and Haydée Santamaria. The return tickets between the orchestra, the voices and the magnetic band lead to a dramatization almost expressionnist of a tended, dissonant and lyric musical speech emphasizing the tragedy of the victims, in particular female, of middle-class repression .

Work opens on a Prélude that Nono refuses to name exactly like such: it is entitled “Like preludio” (As a prelude) and subtitles, in Spanish, “the belleza No está reñida idiot the revolutión” (the beauty is not contrary with the revolution)) , sentence allotted to the Che Guevara. Using the soprano solo, the great chorus, the percussions and the magnetic band, it “As preludio” begins in an almost inaudible way in a crumpling from papers, before going up gradually in power with the chorus sing-speaking a sentence referring in Che Guevara and with Louise Michel: “For this vast and helpful heart - drunk of solidarity - the only air which is respirable - it is the love of humanity” (in French in the text).

The first time (“Tempo I”) (again, Nono rejects the traditional terminology of the opera, which would have spoken about the first act ), entitled “We will return crowd without number”, in French in the text, counts 9 scenes. The tempo II , subtitle the notte E lunga my gia spunta the alba , account 7 scenes, in addition to a final .
