Al Gore

Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. , more known under the name of Al Gore , is a Politician and Businessman American born on March 31st, 1948 with Washington (the United States). He was member of the Chambre of the representatives of 1977 to 1985, senator of the Tennessee of 1985 to 1993 and vice-president of Bill Clinton of 1993 to 2001.

He was the candidate of the democratic party at the time of the presidential election of 2000. Although majority in voice and spite of the recourse and consecutive disputes to the counting of the voices in Florida in front of the Supreme court, it was beaten by the candidate of the Republican party, George Bush, majority of many Great Electors.

In 2007, he is Co-prize winner, with GIEC, of the Nobel Prize of peace for their efforts in order to set up and to diffuse a better comprehension of the climate change caused by the man, and to provide the foundations of the necessary measures to thwart such a change .

Career

Youth

Al Gore was born on March 31st, 1948 with Washington. His/her father, Albert Arnold Gore Sr., was senator of the Tennessee of 1952 with 1970. He studies with the prestigious college St Albans before integrating Harvard, which he off leaves graduate in June 1969 with a Bachelor Art (equivalent of a license). Although opposed to the War of Vietnam, it engages in the army the August 7th of the same year to take part in it. It is sent to the Vietnam in 1971, after having undergone a military training of journalist. After its return, it becomes to defer to the Tennessean and follows studies of right in parallel.

Beginnings in policy (1976-1992)

It begins its political career in 1976, while being candidate with the Chambre of the representatives, in the fourth district of the Tennessee. It beats leaving it Stanley Rogers with the democratic primary educations and is elected without opponent for its first station with the Congress. He is re-elected without discontinuity in 1978, 1980 and 1982 with very comfortable advances. Al Gore contributes also clearly to the adoption by the Chambre of the Representatives of the agreement of free trade on ALENA. The presidential election of 2000

In 1999, Al Gore is presented to the presidential election. Bush, whereas all predicted an easy victory to him. After having supported George W. Bush after the Attacks of September 11th, 2001, Al Gore very quickly takes his distances with the republican administration. In the same way, he is opposed to the economic policy of President Bush, and denounces the losses of liberty contained in the Patriot Act .

In December 2002, he announces that he will not be candidate against George W. Bush on November 2nd, 2004, in spite of the surveys placing it in good position for the democratic primary educations. But it conducts however campaign for Howard Dean at the time of the primary educations, then for John Kerry, the democratic candidate.

Al Gore is today the president and one of the cofounders of the televised chain American Current, launched on August 1st, 2005 and intended for a young public and Net surfer. It belongs to the steering committee of Apple, and is useful like advising semi-official with the Internet search engine Google.

He stated in July 2005 not to be tried by a new candidature for an elective station, and in an interview given to the magazine Time in August of the same year, Al Gore announced that the probability that he presents himself to the American presidential election of 2008 was " very near to zéro". In September 2006, he declares I do not intend to be candidate with presidential but I do not exclude it .

Nobel Prize of Peace 2007

Always worried by the ecological questions, he is the actor and the speaker of documentary carried out by David Guggenheim, An Disadvantage Truth (a truth which disturbs).
