Abû Al `Âs Al-Mustansir Bi-stable-lad Al-Hakam Ben `rear-Rahman Abd or Al-Hakam II (Arabic: rear RTL أبوالعاصالمرتضىالحكمبنهشام), is the son of `rear-Rahmān Abd III year-Nāsir. It was born in 915 with Cordoue. It succeeded his father like Caliph Omeyyade de Cordoue in 961. He died on October 1st 976.

Al-Hakam continued the policy of `rear-Rahman Abd III of consolidation of peace and of the prosperity of Al-Andalus, the caliphate had arrived to its apogee. Al-Hakam was only eight years old when his/her father designated it as successor. Its education was looked after, it took an active part in the government and the military campaigns accompanying the caliph in all kinds of occasions. After the death of his father, it reaches the throne at the age 47 years. He was married with Radhia, but did not have wire to succeed to him. It then became necessary to have a descent. A Basque slave of origin called Subh, (or Zohbeya or Aurora) become his concubine gave him wire whose elder one died into 970.

Of good health until there, Al-Hakam made an brain attack which left it hemiplegic (974). It named his son junior Hichâm as successor who did not have whereas seven years. Al-Hakam died one year and half after this brain attack in the arms of its two eunuques on September 30th (or October 1st) 976.

Biography

It reigned with Grenade, removed Zamora with the king de Léon Sanche the Large, supported the letters and gathered in Cordoue an immense library.

It implements a new enlarging of the Grande Mosque of Cordoue, with the construction of the maksourah and the mihrab current.
