Akshobhya
Akshobhya (Sanskrit: l'" impassible" Japanese: Ashuku will nyorai 阿閃如来) is one of the Five Buddhas of wisdom of the Vajrayana, adibouddha of the family of the Vajra. On the Mandala S of the five Buddhas, it is placed at the East. It reigns on the Eastern paradise of the pure Ground Abhirati, less known than the Western paradise of Amitabha. It transforms the Colère into Sagesse making it possible to see the things as they are without emotion, with the way in which a mirror reflects them without in being affected. Its color is the Bleu, color of water and the mirrors. Its parèdre (Shakti) is Locana. The bodhisattva Vajrapani and the king-guard Acala are bound to him, and sometimes regarded as its emanations. Its mounting is the elephant, symbol of indestructibility and determination.
It is represented making right hand the Mudra bhumisparsha (to touch ground), marking its determination inébranlable to move towards the Illumination, and holding a Vajra in the left hand.
It appears for the first time in the Livre of the ground of Akshobhya , one of the texts of the pure Ground, dating from the middle of the 2nd century, with a legend which makes mirror with that of Amitabha: a monk had made wish meditate in the Eastern Earth pure while remaining impassive vis-a-vis all that at the other creatures could cause its anger or its contempt. Having succeeded, it became the Buddha reigning on this paradise.
It had a short career of Buddha healer to the Japan.
