Akseli Gallen-Kallela
Akseli Gallen-Kallela , born the May 26th 1865 with Pori (Finland), dead the March 7th 1931 with Stockholm (Sweden), is a painter and engraver Finnish.
After begin with a realistic painting by drawing its subjects in the rural life, Akseli Gallen-Kallela forges a personal style of neo-romantic inspiration, one of the chief features of which is marked contours and bright colors. It is famous for its large tables illustrating of the episodes of the Kalevala , the Finnish national epopee ( the defense of Sampo , 1896; the mother of Lemminkäinen , 1897).
