Akon
Akon (born Alioune Badara Thiam ) is a Chanteur of R&B américaino - Senegal board born the April 30th 1973 with Saint-Louis (Senegal). Thereafter, it left to settle with the the United States, with Jersey City, New Jersey. Akon speaks English and wolof but little the French.
Akon took part in one of the albums reference of the history of the rap: “the score” of the fugees as a member of the wing Refugees Allstar de Wycleff Jean . He left the group some time afterwards and continues since an individual career. Akon counts two albums on its account: “Disorder” and “Konvicted”, each one containing the hits " respectively; Locked Up" , " Lonely" , Bananza (Belly Dancer) for its first opus and " Smack That" , " I Wanna Coils You" and " Don' T Matter" for the second album.
Childhood
Akon arrives at the the United States at 7 years, with Union City in the New Jersey. His/her father Mor Thiam, percussionnist who brings his love for the music to him. It there discovers the Hip hop and plunges in the delinquency. Imprisoned, it develops its musical capacities in prison. Its Akon pseudonym (has kon diminutive " convict" has; that one can translate by " a détenu") comes from this period. At its exit, he writes and records songs. Street Records Corporation (SRC records)/Universal the reference mark and launches it with its first album Trouble which is a real success.
Musical course
Akon recorded its first song entitled " Operations Off Natural, " at the 15 years age. Then he was imprisoned for armed robbery, drug possession and benefitted from his time in prison to work on his music. After its setting in freedom, Akon starts to write and record songs in its studio. Its models land at SRC/Universal, which takes care of the production of its first album Trouble in June 2004.Among the tubes of the album one indicates " Locked Up, " " Lonely, " " Belly Dancer (Bananza), " " Pot Off Gold, " and " Ghetto". " Locked Up" reached signal 10 in the American charts and signal 5 with the the United Kingdom. The song was written after Akon made its time in prison for flight of car and this one was remixée in several versions several times according to the country where the individual one left, each version comprising the intervention of a local artist in vogue. Little time after, Robert Montanez, his manager, was assassinated following an argument having burst in the New Jersey in December 2005. " Ghetto" became a hit out of radio when it was remixé to include verses of the legendary rappeurs 2Pac and Notorious B.I.G. Always in 2005, it leaves its third individual " Lonely" (sample of " Mr. Lonely" of Bobby Vinton' S) and the song rises in signal 10 American, becomes number 1 in Australia, Germany and in the United Kingdom. This success booste sales of its album which climbs in the first place of the sales in the United Kingdom in April of the same year.
The second opus of Akon, heading Konvicted , left in the vats on November 14th, 2006 and includes collaborations with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Styles P and Brick and Lace. Before the album is not available to the sale, Akon left individual the " Smack That" in featuring with Eminem whose video clip was directed by Raymond Garced.
Akon connects featurings then and individual, and benefits from this success to create its own label Konvict Muzik . Recently, Akon also worked with Gwen Stefani on " The Sweet Escape" , song being reproduced on the second album solo of the singer of No Doubt.
More recently Akon produced part of the new album of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony while posing in particular on the titles " I Tried" and " Never forget me". One can also underline his participation in the new album of Tiken Jah Fakoly " The africain" on the title " Soldier"
Projects
During an interview, Akon announced that it would make a film on its life which would name " Illegal Alien" , telling its childhood in Africa. For the moment Akon hardly starts to return in the cinema world, but it is well decided to make this film which is due to him so much in heart. It also has creates its mark of clothing, which names Konvicted.Akon currently prepares (October 2007) the exit, in France, of the mixtape of his/her cousin and his group, " the L.R" section; , that it has just signed at Konvicted Muzik, its label. Section L.R is a collective of French rappeurs to which belonged Fachal, the cousin of Akon, @.n.d.y, Dramsky, Flaco, Flowcon, Kapi, Mikey, Yanok and K-libr and who comes from the city of the " Courtillières" between Bobigny and Pantin in the 93.
Akon also signed a contract with Michael Jackson in 2007 for her next album also including Will. I.Am. and Kanye West.
