Akinori Asashoryu

Akinori Asashoryu (朝青龍, “blue dragon of the morning”), born the September 27th 1980 with Oulan Bator in Mongolia, is the name of combat ( shikona ) carried by the fighter Sumo Dolgorsuren Dagvadorj.

It is the 68e Yokozuna of the history of the sumo, it weighs 146 kg and 1,84m measurement. Between January 2004 and May 2007, he was the only fighter in activity to carry the title of Yokozuna . This fighter reigns without division on the world of the sumo since 2003 and beat a great number of historical records. In particular it holds the record of victories in one calendar year (84 out of 90 combat in 2005). It is the rikishi to have only gained all the basho of the same year (in 2005) and to have gained seven basho of sharpened (November 2004 in November 2005).

In August 2007, Akinori Asashoryu is sanctioned by the Japanese Association of Sumo ( JSA ) with a prohibition to take part in the tournament of autumn of Tokyo in September and in that of Kyushu in November and a fall of 30% of its wages for four months, to have simulated a wound with the ligaments preventing it from taking part in a caritative round with the Japan whereas in same time it disputed a football game of official reception in Mongolia. It is about the most severe sanction taken by the JSA against a yokozuna since the installation of the great professional tournaments 80 years ago

He married in 2003 with Tamir and has two children: a little girl, Ichinkhorloo, and her little brother called Dorj.
