Aker Yards

Aker Yards is a Norwegian group of Naval construction created in 2004 by the fusion of the company RGI with the old shipyards Aker and Kvaerner, leader Norwegian of the oil offshore oil rig. It is 1st of Europe in this category.

Activitées

This group has, into 2007,20 000 paid divides on dix-huits shipyards in Norway, in Finland, Germany, Romania, Ukraine, with the Brésil and the Vietnam, like 75% of the Chantiers of the Atlantic and of Leroux Naval (since April 2006, after acquisition near Alstom).

In 2005, its Turnover rose to 16,6 billion Norwegian crowns; In 2006, it was approximately 13 billion Euro S.

It in particular built the Freedom off the Seas .

Principal shareholders

With the head of Aker ASA, the head office of Aker Yards, the Norwegian business man Kjell Inge Røkke had decided to separate from his shipyards. After having reduced its participation by 75% to 40.1% between the summer 2006 and the winter 2007, Aker ASA had sold the remainder of its actions in March 2007.

In the night of Monday October 22nd at the Tuesday, October 23 2007, this group was done repurchased by the South Korean company STX Shipbuilding which seized for 800 million dollars, of 39,2% of the capital.
