Axis Airways (Code AITA: 6V ; Code ICAO: AXY ) is a French Airline company based with the Aéroport of Marseilles Provence. It is specialized in the tourist flights and the activity of Fret express train.

History

  • 1999 : In November, constitution of the business firm Partners Axis located at the Airport of Montpellier.
In December, the company carries out its first flight Fret Express train : Rennes - Paris - Bastia.

  • 2000 : The month of January sees the first momentary flight of the company realized between Marseilles and Valence (Spain).

Establishment of one office to the Marseille-Provence.

In June the seat established in Montpellier is transferred to Marseilles.

  • 2001 : The company operates in April its first flight charter under house Axis Airways. Indeed, the Sinair company repurchased the last year flies from now on under the name of Axis Airways.

  • 2006 : In April, Prado Finance took a majority stake (65%) in the capital of the company, the 35% remainders are distributed between management and the associates founders.

Pierre-Olivier Di Fusco was appointed President of the Groupe Axis Airways.

The company was introduced on the open market of Euronext Paris on July 27th, 2006 (FR0010359513 - MLAXI)

In October, Pierre-Olivier Di Fusco declared the company in suspension of payment and filed for bankruptcy at the bankruptcy court of Aix in Provence which decided one period of six months observation and named Me Douhaire as receiver

The 1st December 2006, the final discharge of the Superior council of the Merchant aviation and the agreement on the recovery plan obtained from the Bankruptcy court of Aix-en-Provence, offer to Axis Airways the occasion to reappear under the name New Axis Airways. The airline company, based with Marignane, modifies its shareholding completely. The funds of Belgian investment Prado Finance (majority to 65%) throws sponge as well as an applicant with this round table Bérenger Voyages (Paris). The capital from now on is mainly held by the firm International Fashion Sport (ISF) of the Marseillais Sylvain Ammar (35%), the Israeli company of Arkia charters ((20%), a Marseilles SCI Star of the Valentine (26%), the Parisian TO, so present in Marseilles and is specialized on Tunisia, Gamma Travel Services (13%) and the tour operator of Strasbourg Sarah Tours International (6%).

These new shareholders bring four million euros of fresh money plus four other million in guarantee. 71 of the 160 paid ones is taken again. Sylvain Ammar becomes President de New Axis Airways, assisted by Raphaël Trojmann (chairman of Sarah Tours), vice-president in load of the strategy and the development. Gilles Bourges (former director of the operations of the company) becomes Managing director and the former chairman, Olivier Di Fusco takes a post of adviser near the President.

March 2007:

  • Olivier Di Fusco takes the commercial department to replace Raphaël Trojmann.
  • the company hopes to be able to make enter three planes in September 2007 like Boeing 737 -800.
  • the company announced that its program had been complete thanks to a Tour Tunisian operator probably Gamma Travel, Tour operator leader on his market for 15 years and important shareholder of Airways Axis. She hopes to serve Israel at the beginning of Lyon of Nantes and Paris.
