Airport of Perpignan - Rivesaltes

The airport of Perpignan - Rivesaltes is a Aéroport department of the the Eastern Pyrenees. Its management is ensured by the Chamber of commerce and of industry of Perpignan and the Eastern Pyrenees.

Infrastructure

This Aérodrome is opened with the commercial, regular traffic national and international or not, with the private aircrafts, IFR and VFR. The principal airline companies to use the platform are:

  • Air France (connection with Paris Orly)
  • Ryanair (connection towards London Stansted)
  • FlyBe (connection towards Birmingham and Southampton)
  • BMI Baby (connection towards Manchester)

The platform accommodates also a center of maintenance (EAS) for the maintenance of the planes of the type Boeing 727 and 737 and MD80 and received in 2006 approval for the Airbus A320. The Perpignan-Rivesaltes airport also has a 10 year old contract with Airbus like centers technical tests in flight for the A380. The geographical location of this airport joined together of the very complex conditions of tests: wind, mountain, snow, dry air, strong temperatures. Reasons which pushed Airbus to do of them one of these many center of tests.

History

The airport was at the time of the Aéropostale a place of stopover for its pilots of which Mermoz. The most former user of the platform is the aero club of Roussillon which since October 29th, 1910 gathers impassioned aviation of the department.
