Airport of Bordeaux - Mérignac
The airport of Bordeaux is a Aéroport French located on the commune of Mérignac at 12 km at the west of Bordeaux in the department of the the Gironde and the area Aquitaine. It is accessible since the by-pass (left 11b) but also via public transport (direct shuttle or drunk n°49 city).
History
The airport of Bordeaux-Mérignac, inaugurated in 1917, was managed since 1931 by the Chamber of commerce and of industry of Bordeaux. Since May 2nd, 2007, the new dealer for the 30 next years is the Airport Company of Bordeaux-Mérignac. It is about a Public limit company at Board of trustees and Directoire. Its capital of: 148000 euros is held by the State, majority shareholder (60%), the Chamber of commerce and of industry of Bordeaux (25%) and the territorial collectivities (15%).The airport of Bordeaux accommodated: 3261971 passengers in 2006 is a rise of 5,2% compared to 2005. The principal interior connections are bound for Paris-Orly (: 992860 passengers in 2006), Paris-Roissy (: 457544), Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (: 261667), Marseilles (: 153579), Nice (: 76393) like Strasbourg, Lille, Rennes, Nantes, Clermont-Ferrand etc As for the international one, they serve London Gatwick (: 131101), Munich (: 77029), Amsterdam (: 72306), Marrakech (: 70923), Barcelona, Madrid, Oporto, Lisbon, Dublin, Rome, Bologna, Milan, Venice, Tunis, Casablanca, Algiers, Geneva, etc without counting many charters on the Mediterranean basin and Quebec.
The airport arranged a terminal dedicated to the " Carry Ibérique" who treats in particular the flights Air France coming from Brussels, Clermont-Ferrand, Geneva, Lille, Lyon, Marseilles, Mulhouse, Nantes, Nice, Rennes, Strasbourg of connection with Barcelona, Lisbon, Madrid and Oporto. 14 planes can be treated simultaneously by this terminal which is built of lime pit foot, rez some of track.
