Airport of Örnsköldsvik

The airport of Örnsköldsvik is located at Husum, in the commune of Örnsköldsvik (Västernorrland), to 24,6 km in the North-East of the city (28 minutes by the road).

Created in 1961, it has a priori a domestic vocation. The only scheduled flights are ensured by Scandinavian Airlines, with four rotations towards Stockholm-Arlanda the days from week and three Sunday for the same destination, in Dash 8 Q400.

The number of recorded passengers with Örnsköldsvik increased in a substantial way at the end of the years 1990, in spite of a unfavourable Conjoncture with the Air transport and the high prices practiced by SAS, in situation of Monopole. And this also in spite of strong the competition which the airport of Umeå exerts (however located at 1 h 30 of road in the north of Örnsköldsvik, but of greatter importance and proposing services of companies at low prices: Fly Nordic , Malmö Aviation , Regional Nordic and Umeåflyg ). Another starting point, the airport of Kramfors, with approximately 1 h 25 in the south of Örnsköldsvik, is less competing, because only Nordic Regional is present there with two destinations (Arlanda and Umeå).

For as much, the commercial traffic of Örnsköldsvik did not cease progressing relatively slowly, but constantly and, in 2005, the airport recorded 142 933 passengers on departure or arrival. Moreover, at the autumn 2006, several direct flights charter towards the Turkey was set up by Pegasus.

Consequently, the airport was entirely renovated in 2005 - 2006, with a news tower of control, the halls starting and arrival and the entirely remade Tarmac.
