Airport Paris Vatry
The international airport of Vatry is a Aéroport French specialized in the Air cargo and the Logistique located at Vatry in the department of the Marne, to approximately 150 km in the east of Paris.
At the end of 2006 Vatry obtained the code “BY”, thus classifying it among the airports of the metropolitan surface of Paris. In order to better identify Vatry at the zone than it serves, the denomination of the airport is from now on “Airport Paris Vatry”. This new name enables him to better position among the airports concerned with the air service road of the capital, as well on the plan of the air cargo as on developments of passenger traffic. Created by the general advice of the Marne, this airport, which was brought into service the March 31st 2000 is installed in the influences of old a American Air base evacuated in 1967.
The airport of Vatry has a track of 3.860 m accessible to all the apparatuses, including the largest transport aircrafts, and of equipment allowing an exploitation by all times.
It has a logistic zone of more than 400 ha, connected to the Autoroute S.A. 4 and A26 by an open particular exchanger on October 21st, 2004, like with the railway by direct junction. Several companies of logistics settled there, in particular Geodis and TNT. The company DHL (subsidiary of Deutsche Post) studied the possible transfer of its European platform which leaves Brussels-Zaventem for questions of harmful effects but it is Leipzig which was selected. In the event of transfer, a second track would have being built.
The principal asset of this airport is its relatively insulation which enables him to receive night activities and noisier planes such as old models of the ex-USSR, which become more difficult in the airports close to the great agglomerations. It also has important land reserves. It is sometimes presented as a solution of Third airport of Paris for the air cargo. However, since its startup, the development of the traffic remained modest. October 21st, 2004, a new air terminal of 3.900 m ² for the passengers was inaugurated. Vatry treated a modest traffic Charter of 8.000 passengers with the end of August 2004.
The exploitation of the airport is assured since April 2000 by the company SAP (Development company Vatry Europort) within the framework of a public service delegation signed with the Department of the Marne. This company is a subsidiary company of the Aéroports of Montreal (Airports of Montreal Capital - ADMC) and Canadian group SNC-Lavalin (23,3% each one). Y take part moreover Kéolis (23,9%), Sogaris (10%), and the Chambers of commerce and of industry of Châlons, Rheims - Épernay and Troyes (6,5% each one).

Regular freight knows a progression of 12,3%, passing 29.400 tons in 2005 to 33.000 tons in 2006The rise of regular freight is in major part due to the increase in the traffic of perishable goods (fruits, vegetables and fish) operated by Avient. Vis-a-vis this addition of activities, the company, which has establishes its hub European with Vatry three years ago now, acquired a second DC10-30F. This last flies to the colors of Avient since the beginning of the month of September 2006. In addition to the freight usually treated daily, a significant development on the imports of flowers cut coming from Eastern Africa was noted.
To answer the growth of its activities, the Paris-Vatry Airport launched the installation of a second terminal cargo liner of a surface of 8.100 m ², which will carry the capacity of handling of freight to more than 120.000 tons per annum.
