Air Lithuania

AB „Aviakompanija Lietuva ‟ (in English Air Lithuania ) (Code AITA TT) is principal the regional Airline company of Lithuania, based with Kaunas.

History

  • 1991 : after the reorganization of the subsidiary company of Aeroflot of Kaunas, Air Lithuania is created.
  • 1993 : the first scheduled flight Kaunas - Budapest - Kaunas proceeds in February.

A scheduled flight Kaunas - Palanga - Kristianstadt - Palanga - Kaunas begins in June. The flight Kaunas - Palanga - Hamburg - Palanga - Kaunas begins in November.
  • 1994 : in September, beginning of the scheduled flights Kaunas - Oslo - Kaunas.

  • 1995 : Air Lithuania is reorganized of state enterprise in Joint Stock Company (privatized out of purse).

  • 1996 : in August the flight Kaunas - Oslo - Kaunas is accomplished via Palanga.

In November, a scheduled flight Kaunas - Palanga - Billund - Palanga - Kaunas begins. Air Lithuania becomes a member of ERA (European Regional Airlines Association) and MITA (Multilateral Interline Traffic Agreements).
  • 1997 : the first acquisition of a ATR 42 (leasing).

September 11th, the shares of company AB “Air Lithuania” are transferred to the sister company Lithuanian Airlines.
  • 1999 : in April, scheduled flight Palanga - Cologne/Bonn - Palanga begins. During the summer, a seasonal flight Palanga - Moscow is proposed.

  • 2003 : in March beginning of the flights Kaunas - Palanga - Malmo - Palanga - Kaunas.

Another ATR 42 is acquired on a basis of Leasing. The service of Yakovlev (Yak-40) is definitively abandoned. In May, both ATR 42 are respectively baptized Kaunas and Klaipėda .
