Air Botswana

Air Botswana (Code AITA BP) is the national Airline company Botswana.

Slogan: Going your way (while going on your way).

When the old protectorate of the Bechuanaland became independent in 1966 while becoming the Republic of Botswana, a national company was considered but nothing was concretized during nearly twenty years. After several years under different other names, it is the creation of Air Botswana Corporation , in April 1988, like a national company under the supervision of the Ministry off Works, Transport and Communications (Communication and Transport, Ministry of Labor) which marks the true birth of the current company. In 1994, after years of losses, it was decided to reorganize and of recapitaliser the company, for a privatization. It was even the first public service of Botswana to being thus privatized. In March 1997, privatization is finally decided with the agreement of the government - what did not become possible that in March 2000 when the Parliament adopted the project of policy of privatization of Botswana ( Paper N° 1 of 2000).

The fleet of the company includes/understands 3 ATR -42-500 (46 passengers). It operates in interior flights but also into international bound for Johannesbourg, Harare or Victoria Falls (the Chutes Victoria on the Zambezi).

She is based on the Sir-Seretse-Khama airport with Gaborone.
