Aimery VIII of Thouars

Aimery VII of Thouars , it was born in 1187 and it dies in 1246. It is the son of Aimery VII and Marie.

It succeeds his brother Guy Ier. On its arrival with the head of the Viscount, in 1242, it goes to Chinon to make homage to the King de France Louis IX (Saint Louis). But the confidence of the King remains limited, Aimery is obliged to grant the right to him to place garrisons in the cities and castles of the Viscount until the end of the fight against the Count of the Walk which is always in rebellion.

He married Béatrix of Machecoul Dame of the Rock on Yon (widowed of Guillaume de Mauléon Seigneur of Talmond), she died in 1235 and was buried with the abbey of Fontenelles.

Before dying, it had made a " donation into pure and perpetual aumône" with this abbey: " the market and mining of Machecoul, the site where they are and on which the house is built named " the cohue" with all the products that it would withdraw some; right to take, in the forest of Machecoul, all wood necessary to repair and increase the aforementioned " cohue".

They had two children:

  • Aimery Lord of Machecoul and the Rock on Yon (which dies prematurely in 1218)
  • Jeanne (dead on Oct. 6, 1258) which marries in first weddings Hardouin IV Baron de Maillé (1223-1243) then in second Maurice weddings, Seigneur of Belleville.
