Aide-de-camp
A aide-de-camp is an officer, generally deprived of experiment, charged with following an older officer to make carry out its orders. Permanently at its sides, it profits from its experiment, and takes care of its comfort.
It is also a special military function with the Canada.
Canada
The General governor of Canada has several , aide-de-camp Capitaine S or the lieutenants, which coordinate the whole of its activities and displacements.
The Lieutenant-governors also have aide-de-camps, but often, this function is more symbolic system and honorary.
The senior officers also have aide-de-camps
In all the cases, the aide-de-camps carry a yellow cord identifying their function. Those in service near the General governor carry his badge on the shoulder pads. The aide-de-camps of the lieutenant-governors carry on their shoulder pads the armorial bearings of the province concerned.
The aide-de-camps can add initial the " ADC" at the end of their signature, after the identifications of medals.

Since XVIe century, the staffs were equipped with young officers charged to carry the orders of control (i.e. dictated in the course of battle, in order to modify the starting direction of the units) by the general-in-chief.
