Ahmed Ben Bella (Arab: rear RTL احمدبنبلة) is a politician Algérie N born the December 25th 1916, with Maghnia in the department (wilaya) of Tlemcen in Algérie. It made its secondary studies with Tlemcen.

In 1937, it carries out its military service then at the time of the world war, warrant officer, takes part in the engagements by showing its bravery, in particular at the time of the countryside of Italy. It receives for its actions several decorations.

Marked by the massacres of May 8th, 1945, it adheres to the PPP - MTLD, of Messali Hadj. It is then elected city council man of its city in 1947.

Person in charge of the Special Organization (O.S.) in company of Hocine Has Ahmed and of Rabah Bitat, it takes part in the break-in of the post office of Oran of 1949.

In May 1950, it is stopped with Algiers, is considered to be guilty and condemned, two years later, at seven years of prison. He escapes in 1952 and takes refuge in Cairo near Hocine Has Ahmed and of Mohamed Khider with which it will train later the delegation external of the Front of National Release (FLN).

One of the 9 historical leaders of the revolutionary Committee of unit and action (CRUA), it is stopped second once when the plane is diverted which led it Morocco to Tunis in company of Mohammed Boudiaf, Hocine Has Ahmed, Mohamed Khider and Lacheraf.

Released in 1962 after its imprisonment with the Strong Liédot on the island of Aix (France, department of the Charente-Maritime, near to the Fort Boyard), it takes part in the congress of Tripoli where a disagreement opposes it to GPRA. After the negotiations of Evian, he criticizes the legitimacy of the provisional government indeed and clashes in Boudiaf and Belkacem which he eliminates quickly. He returns to Algiers and on September 15th 1962, is indicated president of the Republic. It installs a capacity without division then.

Ben Bella aims to build a typically Algerian socialism (bonds with Cuba and France at the same time) while purifying the party, the army and the administration when he becomes general secretary of the political office of the FLN in April 1963. Its indicated dolphin is then the colonel Boumédiène. Elected official in September 1963 chair of a very presidential and authoritative Republic, it succeeds, in violence, to reduce the insurrections kabyles and the various political oppositions.

He is reversed by the coup d'etat of Boumédiène the June 19th 1965, is imprisoned until July 1979, then assigned with residence until his release in October 1980. Exiled in Europe, it returns in Algérie in 1990.

Ahmed Ben Bella received the Prix Kadhafi of the human rights and chairs the " today; international committee " of this Libyan price.
