Agrolândia

Agrolândia is a city Brésil ienne of the State of Santa Catarina.

Geography

Agrolândia is located in high the Vallée of Rio Itajaí, by a Latitude 27º 24 ' 42" south and by a Longitude of 49º 49 ' 32" west, with a Altitude of 364 meters.

Its population was of: 9080 inhabitants with the census of 2007. The municipality extends on 207 km ².

The city is located at 189 km in the west of the capital of the State, Florianópolis. It belongs to the Microrégion d' Ituporanga, in the mésorégion of the Vallée of Rio Itajaí.

The annual average temperature is of 18,3°C. The city knows a wet climate at the hot summers.

IDH of the city was of 0,775 in 2000 (UNDP).

History

The municipality knows two principal stages of settlement.

On a side, in 1911, two brothers, Ricardo and Domingos Alves Paes, with some close relations, come Lages, discovers the area now named Serra back Alves and settle there. They deforest the places and plant there Maïs and Haricot, which they found in abundance. In 1913, their families join them definitively.

On another side, the first descendants of colonists German S, who populated the average Vallée of Rio Itajaí, arrive around 1916 to recognize the places. In 1917, families settle and name the locality Trombudo Alto . “Trombudo”, because the river which crosses the locality present of the curves evoking a horn ( tromba in Portuguese) and “Viola” (“high” in French) by the proximity of the Serra Geral.

Later, these pioneers are joined by descendants families of colonists Italy NS, come from Rodeio, Rio back Cedros and their surroundings.

In 1958, Trombudo Viola, become a district of Trombudo Central and, on June 12th 1962, become a municipality under the name of Agrolândia. This emancipation is commemorated every July 25th, at the time of the festival of the municipality. Its name comes from the “agro” roots (“agriculture”) and “lândia” (“country”).

Economy

The economic activity of the municipality is centered around the Agriculture, in particular the culture of the Maïs, the Riz, the Tabac and the Oignon, and the breeding, in particular of Volaille.

There exist some industries in the municipality, working in the fields of the Teinture, the Céramique and the Forestry development.

Tourism and culture

The municipality of Agrolândia tries to preserve the characteristics brought by the first immigrants, of German origin, in particular on the level of the Architecture. Paths of Randonnée S also make it possible to benefit from the natural wealths of the area which counts many Cascade S. One of these excursions leads to the Sculpture S of the self-educated artist Volnei Sandro Becker, located in full forest.
