The Agricultural credit , often called the green Bank because of its activity of origin to the service of the agricultural world, is a banking group semi mutualist French. It is, historically, the bank of the agricultural world and this bank is holder of a public mission of financing and accompaniment of the evolutions of agriculture in France.
History
First ages.
The history of the Agricultural credit goes back to the end of the 19th siècle. The creation of the very first local Case takes place in 1885 on February 23rd with Salins (the Jura). Thus, the building started “with the base” (local and regional Cases of mutual agricultural credit). The local Cases see their statute regulated in 1894 by a law founded by Jules Méline. Progressive diversification
Initially directed exclusively towards agriculture, the Agricultural credit diversified as from years 1960 towards the agroalimentary one, rurality, the craft industry, the financing of the habitat then the whole of the economic sectors, with a strong presence on the market of the private individuals.
In parallel, the national entity, the National bank of agricultural credit, become Agricultural credit SA (CASA), gradually reinforced its activities on the financial markets and the international one. Moreover, and, during the two last decades, it absorbed by repurchase, or taken strategic participations, in various French financial institutions, Italian (Intesa) and of the Central European country and Eastern. In 1986 the group launches out in the life insurance with Predica and the insurance damage in 1990 with Pacifica. In 1996, it is Indosuez which is repurchased to give the birth to Indocam (management of credits - famous CAAM for Crédit Agricole Asset Management since 1999) and Ca-Indosuez (CAI) for the Bank of Financing and Investment. More recently, it absorbed LCL in 2003. Fusion of the banks of financing of the Lyonese and CAI were born Calyon, the bank of investment and financing.
In the field of the structure of the capital, the major event is in 2001, when CASA places themselves on the Stock market but remains held mainly by the 44 Regional Cases, as envisage it the statutes mutualists of the group.
The years 2003 to 2005 were remembered by the absorption and the integration of the Crédit Lyonnais - renamed LCL - in the banking group. This integration cost on the whole 1,3 billion euros and since 2005 allowed to carry out 663 million profits in synergy.
In 2006, the Agricultural credit repurchases 100% of the fourth Greek bank, Emporiki for 3,3 billion euros.

The operations of takeover mentioned above allowed him, to so much consolidate its French position of leader of the bank of detail, to widen its position of bank of investment and markets (Calyon), and to pack its network of branches and subsidiary companies abroad.
The group is also active in the field of the insurance (Predica, Pacifica) and the management of financial credits (Crédit Agricole Asset Management).
The regional Cases also recently developed on the market of the real transaction, in particular through the mark Square Habitat.
