Badge
The badge represents an enamelled star of white suspended with a ribbon of which the greatest part is green, which is worth to him the nickname of Poireau . The two red edgings which border the green moire ribbon symbolize the prestigious institution of the National order of the Legion of honor. The expression “to have leek” refers to the color of the ribbon.
Among the famous member elects, it is necessary to note some “land” artists like Michel Serrault, Catherine Deneuve, Paul Morand and Roger Peyrefitte.
The Order includes/understands the ranks of knight (approximately 23 000 people currently), of officer (5 000) and of commander (400).
