Agostino Soldati

Agostino Soldati is a Diplomate Suisse, born on November 10th, 1910 with Neggio from where he originating and died on December 11th, 1966.

Biography

After studies with Vienna and Bern for which it optient the titles of Doctor in right and lawyer, it enters to the Département of the foreign affairs in 1938. It is in station with Rome, with Berlin (where it represents the interests of 21 country near the Third Reich), with Lisbon and Paris.

Named observant Switzerland near the United Nations with New York in 1956 with the title of ambassador plenipotentiary during approximately a year, he is then chief of the Swiss delegation to the European Organization of economic cooperation and near the European Coal and Steel Community as of 1958. In 1959, it is accredited like first Swiss ambassador near the European Economic community (the EEC) and of Euratom. In 1961, it is named Ambassadeur in France and chief of the delegation near the economic Cooperation organization and development

At the time of the last conference of the ambassadors to which it takes share, it declares: “the credit and the weight of a country in the world depend by no means on the number of its initiatives and its declarations, but on the number of those which are taken with serious and have real consequences”.

He dies in functions. The day of its death, the general de Gaulle addresses condolences to its Daisy widow and to the president of the Confederation Hans Schaffner. “It had a vast culture, a deep knowledge of the things and people and a spirit continuously in awakening” was to write the general secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Pierre Micheli in the Journal of Geneva.
