Agostino Ciampelli

Agostino Ciampelli or Agostino Ciampelio Fiorentino (Florence, 1565 - Rome, 1630) was an Italian painter of the school florentine.

Biography

Raise Santi di Tito, one of the principal artists of the Counter-Reformation with Florence and anti-mannerist. He teaches him the preserving fashion and excessively pious woman in the treatment from the religious subjects which characterize the reform florentine. Ciampelli is then described like only the true artist of Santi di Tito whose style left on him a deep influence for the major part of its career.

It is allowed with the Accademia dell' Arte del Disegno of Florence in 1585.

Its first known work is paintings for a provisional triumphal arch set up for the arrival of Christine of Lorraine in Florence in 1589, part of a series of paintings of Santi di Tito and its pupils.

It leaves then to Rome in 1594 for most of its life. He lives in the palate of the cardinal Alessandro de Médicis, pope in 1605 under the name of Leon XI, and deceased the same year. He works with the church of Gesù, with Saint-Jean-of-Lateran, in San Vitale, San Giovanni de Fiorentini, inter alia.

In 1629, it was named Soprastante della Fabbrica di San Pietro , at the sides of the Bernin.
