A agonist (of the Latin late agnista , “to dispute”, Greek agnists , “protestor”, of agn , “to dispute”) are a Molécule interacting with a membrane Récepteur and activating this one. Agonist MIME in general the messenger usually binding with the receiver in question. It can be more or less selective for a type of receiver. For example, the Muscarine and the Nicotine make it possible to make the distinction between two types of cholinergic Récepteur.
The agonists are usually used in electrophysiology to activate a ionic current specifically.
