Agnula

AGNULA (Acronyme of has GNU Linux Audio ) is an old project of which the goal was to spread the free software in the field of the audio and the video professional. This distribution is not available any more and was replaced by Debian Multimedia .

The principal task of the Agnula project was to develop a multi-media Distribution Linux of reference. This distribution was called DeMuDi and it was based on Debian.

History

The project began on April 1st 2002. It profits during two years from a financing from the European commission and is coordinated by the Center Reale Tempo with Florence. It implies also important research centres and institutions:

Its initial task is to develop two distributions Linux dedicated to the development of audio and multi-media applications professional and general public. One of the distributions would be based on a distribution Debian (DeMuDi) whereas the other distribution would be based on a distribution RedHat (ReHMuDi). Following the stop of the financing of the project by the European commission, the community of the contributors of Agnula decides to concentrate on only one distribution.

This distribution, AGNULA/DeMuDi (acronym for Multi-media Debian Distribution), is based on Debian. She is very appreciated in MAO; she for example is used with IRCAM, as well as other free software.

Free AGNULA Music

Project AGNULA proposes also a Base of data of music on Internet: Free AGNULA Music . The goal of this base of data is to make it possible its users to exchange their creations and to meet. The only condition posed so that a musical work can be integrated is that it is diffused under a free License.
