Agnos is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.
Its inhabitants is called Agnosiens and Agnosiennes.

Toponymy

The toponym Agnos appears in the forms Anhos (1364, Fors de Béarn), Aynhos (XIVe century, censier of Béarn) and Aignos (1675, reformation of Béarn).

History

Paul Raymond note that in 1385, Agnos counted 17 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Oloron.

This common amalgamated with that of Gurmençon on February 1st, 1973, to form the commune called Valley-of-Gave-in Aspe . It was restored on January 1st, 1983.
