Agnes Maltais
Agnès Maltais (November 7th, 1956 -) is a political woman Québécois. She is the Député E pequist of Taschereau to Quebec. She was until May 14th, 2007 the president of the caucus Parti Québécois. Agnès Maltais however withdrew itself from this function, in order to be able to support Pauline Marois openly, in the race with the direction of the PQ, for the succession of the chief André Boisclair, by preoccupation with a neutrality.
Biography
Born with Sault-with-Sheep, it obtains a collegial diploma with the Cégep of Holy-Foy. Its career carries out it in the world of the Théâtre, where she plays, manages a troop and directs theaters. It makes the artistic director of the national Festival.Its militancy starts as of CÉGEP and develops in the local popular movements.
It is spokesperson of YES at the time of the referendum of 1995 in Quebec.
Elected appointed of at the time of the general election of November 30th, 1998, it occupies the posts of minister of the Culture in the government of Lucien Bouchard and minister delegated to Health then with Employment in the Gouvernement Landry.
Re-elected at the time of the general election of April 14th, 2003, it becomes the president of the caucus of the opposition pequist to the National Assembly. She becomes member of the parliamentary Quebec-France and Quebec-State-Plain groups.
Agnès Maltais had been had a presentiment of to replace Jean-Paul To combine It with the town hall of Quebec, but it declined the offer.
Mrs. Maltais is also active in the movement for the recognition of merry and lesbians, having publicly recognized her homosexuality in 2003
