Agnes Desarthe

Agnès Desarthe (born in 1966 with Paris) is a writer French author of books for adults and children.

Biography

Agnès Desarthe is one of the three children of the pediatrist Aldo Naouri. She married the scenario writer Dante Desarthe, wire of the actor Gerard Desarthe.

Former student of the National university and aggregate of English, it initially worked as translator before publishing in 1992 a first novel for teenagers, I do not love you, Paulus with the school of the leisures, of which I still do not love you, Paulus , appeared thirteen years later, constitutes the continuation.

In addition to many novels for youth, it is the author of six novels for adults, published in the Éditions of Olivier. It obtained the Prix of the book inter for its second novel, a secrecy of no importance .

It has, in collaboration with Genevieve Brisac, her editor with the school of the leisures, devoted to Virginia Woolf an emission on France Culture. Following this emission, they published in 2004 a test devoted to the British novelist, V.W, the mixture of the kinds.

In parallel, it continues its activity of translation of books for youth (about thirty works, including thirteen novels of Loïs Lowry, but also Brundibar of Maurice Sendak) and for the adults (six works, of which the house of Carlyle , collection of news of Virginia Woolf).

Lastly, it is the author of two plays ( the knights , put in scene by Gilles Cohen at the Theater of the Roundabout in 2005 and the Kit , which was not still assembled) as well as several songs.
