Age of the stone
The Âge of the stone is the period of the Préhistoire during which the human S created tools hones of it. The Wood and the Os were also used but the stone, and in particular the Silex, was worked to create cutting tools and Arme S. “Age of the stone” is from now on a slightly obsolete expression and one prefers one of his subdivisions to him: Paleolithic, Mesolithic or Neolithic; these periods themselves are often subdivided (see Préhistoire).
The chronological limits of this period vary according to the area concerned and the criteria which one retains. Although it is possible to speak about a total Age of the stone for all humanity, certain groups did not never develop metallurgical technologies and thus remained in a age of the stone until they meet of the cultures more developed technologically. Nevertheless, it is considered in general that this period begins approximately 2,5 Million years ago when the first human ones started to manufacture tools. It was followed by the Bronze Age, during which the tools in Bronze became common, there are approximately 8000 to 4500 years.
It is generally thought that the areas of the the Middle East and the Southeast Asia arrived at the end of the Age of the stone towards 6000 av. J. - C., Europe and the remainder of Asia and Africa towards 4000 av. J. - C. and ages of Americas towards 2500 av. J. - C.
