Agboville
Agboville , or Agnéby , is a city of the south of the Ivory Coast and chief town of the area of Agnéby. It is located at 79 km of the economic capital Abidjan.
It is a historical and political city, rich in natural resources: wood, food, Cocoa, Coffee, Gold. It especially accommodates multinationals thanks to the presence of the railroad Abidjan-Niger. It is made up in majority by the ethnos group Abé which belongs to the great group Akan of origin Ashanti (Ghana).
Population
Its population is of 225.000 inhabitants and his density of 54 hab. /km ². It is more the big city close to Abidjan. The populations autochtones are the Abé S quasi majority and the Krobou, all the group Akan, of the lagunaires of tradition Patrilinéaire. In addition to these populations, Agboville counts many aliens (i.e foreign) who make city a cosmopolitan city.
History and administrative division
At the time of the colonization of the Ivory Coast, the resistance of the Abé S to the French colonists was most savage, in particular because of the layout of the railroad Abidjan - Niger. The town of Rubino which bears the name of the one of the French officers is perfect testimony.Agboville is one rare city created by the colonists after their evacuation of the village of Ery Makouguié because the epidemic of Malaria. Quickly this small city deviate the principal military station of the canton Abbey. 1916, place chief of the circle of Agnéby which contains the subdivision of Agboville and Adzopé. The African Agricultural trade union was born in Agboville.
Its population is organized in cantons. Thus we distinguish according to the ethnoculturelle surface 5 cantons of which the canton Morié, the canton Tchoff, the canton Koss, the canton Abè-Vé and the canton Krobou. Profiting from the presence of the railway, Agboville very quickly becomes an important economic place because all the colonial loads were gathered there. In 1944, the African agricultural trade union was created there precisely in the agricultural campings of Anoma on the way of Agboville - Tiassalé. In 1953, Agboville becomes common of average exercise. With independence in 1961, it becomes under prefecture and prefecture in 1968. In 1975 then 1980 two new sub-prefectures are created in the spring: sub-prefecture of Rubino and that of Azaguié.
In 1980, the city is set up in commune of full exercise with for first mayor elected Léonard Offoumou Yapo. In 1985, the towns of Rubino and Azaguié are also set up in commune. In 1997, at the time of the presidential round carried out by the president of then Henri Konan Bédié, other localities were set up in sub-prefecture, namely Large-Morié, Céchi and Oress-Krobou.

A law of 1978 instituted 27 communes of full exercise on the territory of the country.

- Ernest Boka, member of the cabinet of the colonial governor, was named Ministre in 1957. In 1960, it is named president of the supreme court of the republic of Ivory Coast. It disappeared in 1964 under tragic conditions.

Offoumou Yapo Léonard (born in the village of Attobrou in 1923) is a politician of the Ivory Coast. He is the 2nd child of Offoumou Tangary, after the richissime farmer Offoumou Baka deceased in 1991. Teacher, professor, first democratically elected deputy and mayor with Agboville, he is member of the political committee of the PDCI-RDA. Founder of several institutes, colleges and schools, he was the president of Scouts of Africa until in 2003 and world vice-president of the Scoutisme.
