Agathon Marie Rene of Bintinaye

Agathon Marie Rene of Bintinaye , born with Rennes, the March 24th 1758, marine French.

It entered strong young person the navy. It was as a second on Supervising it , being still only sign of vessel, at the time of the glorious combat which this frigate supported with the height of Ushant, the October 7th 1779, against the English frigate Quebec . (See: Charles Louis of Couëdic).

At the time when Bintinaye sprang on the enemy edge, it was reversed by a blow of grapeshot which he broke the right-hand man. The talents, the courage which it had shown in this action were generally appreciated, and the states of Brittany, with their following behavior (1780), granted to him, though it was only twenty-two years old, meeting and deliberative voice at their assembly, where one entered only at twenty-five years. In spite of its wound, Bintinaye continued its services in the navy. At the time of the French revolution, it had arrived at the rank of major of vessel. This officer perished at sea, at the end of December 1792. There are of him Observations on an article inserted in the Morning-Chronicle , London, 1792, in-8°, booklet for which the circumstances got some success.
