Agastache Cana

Agastache Cana , the silver plated agastache, queen-of-heathers, grass with mosquito, hysope wild, is a herbaceous Plante of the family of the Lamiaceae (Labiées), tribe of the Mentheae , kind Agastache , cultivated primarily for the decorative aspect of its splendid floral ears pink mauve, although it can also be used like aromatic and condiment. It is also required like Plante mellifère.

Although long-lived in its surface of extension, its lifespan is short (typically annual) under the moderate climates. So one often prefers to him the Agastache foeniculum .

Etymology: “agastache” comes from the Greek agatos who means admirable. Cana means silver plated in Latin.

It is originating in a zone which goes from the Texas to the New Mexico. It pushes on the arid mountains between 1200 and 2000m of altitude.

Botanical characteristics

The agastache Hybrid Cana very easily with the other species of Agastache. It is thus advisable not to mix the species in the same garden if one wants to preserve a pure stock.

Culture

Agastache Cana is a Hardy perennial under the hot climates but of short duration of life (annual) under moderate climate. It is recommended to protect the foot in the event of strong frosts.

It can adapt to the majority of the types of grounds provided that they are correctly drained. She prefers a sunny exposure.

She is able to resow herself and, so can become invading.
